Sunday, March 22 Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet. Tour of James Monroe's "Highland" Visit the 5th President of the United States, James Monroe's home. He was categorized as a small planter who raised tobacco on this farm of approximately 500 acres. You will have a historical tour of the home and grounds. Lunch at Michie Tavern It's time to eat! Enjoy lunch at Michie Tavern. Get a taste of the 18th-century as we feature a buffet of southern fried chicken, stewed tomatoes, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, baby beets, buttermilk biscuits, cornbread and peach cobbler for dessert. Tour Monticello - Home of Thomas Jefferson This 45-minute guided experience includes first floor spaces in Thomas Jefferson’s home, the West Lawn, and the South Wing. You’ll learn about Jefferson and his vision for America, the realities of slavery on the Monticello plantation, and the mountaintop’s iconic architecture. This popular pass includes access to the gardens, grounds and exhibits. Patrick Henry's Scotchtown Scotchtown is the only original standing home of Patrick Henry, known as the "orator of the American Revolution", open to the public. Henry lived here from 1771 to 1778 and conceived his most influential revolutionary ideas at the home, including his famous "Liberty or Death" speech. After your tour of the Tavern and Courthouse you will enjoy a buffet dinner. Monday, March 23 Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet. This morning stop and tour Historic St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia. Thousands of visitors from all over the world make their way to this small church each year, to visit the place where Patrick Henry delivered one of the most important speeches in our nation’s history. Reenactment at Historic St. John's Church Professional actors in 1770s attire portray nine delegates, including such prominent Virginians as Richard Henry Lee, Benjamin Harrison, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Witness the democratic process at work through the animated reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention, which culminates in Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech. Enjoy lunch on your own. Tour Mountpelier - Home of James & Dolly Madison Tour Montpelier, the historic home of President James Madison and First Lady Dolley Madison. Nestled in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this beautifully restored estate offers an in-depth look at the life and legacy of the “Father of the Constitution.” Explore the stately mansion, stroll the historic grounds, and gain insight into the lives of the enslaved people who lived and worked on the plantation through powerful exhibits and reconstructed dwellings. Tuesday, March 24 Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet. Tour the Berkeley Plantation Today you visit the Berkley Plantation, site of the first Thanksgiving in 1619. Berkley is also the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, as well as President William Henry Harrison. Enjoy an included box lunch while visiting Berkeley Plantation. Tour of Sherwood Forest Plantation Home of the 10th President John from 1842 to 1862 and known as the longest frame house in America ( over 300 feet long). It has also been in the Tyler family throughout the years even now. Take a step back in time as you go on a guided tour of the house also included is the museum, a film and self guided tour of the gardens. Shirley Plantation Visit a National Historic Landmark on the James River. Shirley Plantation stands as a testament to colonial life and early American history of the indigenous, settlers, indentured and enslaved. An active family farm, Shirley is currently home to the 11th and 12th generations of the Hill Carter family. A beautiful dining experience awaits you at a local restaurant. Wednesday, March 25 Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet. This morning, bid farewell to the history-rich city of Richmond as you begin your journey home.
