About this trip

Virginia Military Festival

Friday April 17-Sunday April 19, 2025

Begin your patriotic adventure aboard the Victory Rover Cruising through the bustling Hampton Roads Harbor, one of the largest in the world. Enjoy fascinating and entertaining commentary during the two-hour excursion aboard this naval themed vessel. Take in the sights of aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, guided cruisers and all of the other ships that form the world's most powerful armada. A boxed dinner will be served picnic style during the cruise. After the cruise you will check in to the Hyatt House Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The celebration continues on Saturday morning. Following breakfast at the hotel, you will head downtown for an early visit to Nauticus, a nautical museum, where you will learn about the power of the sea, experience ship handling first hand and pet a shark. Visit the museum and then enjoy a self-guided tour of the Battleship Wisconsin—the largest battleship that served in WWII, the Korean War and the Persian Gulf War. Walk the short distance for reserved seating at the Parade of Nations which features marching bands, Tattoo performers, dazzling floats and decorated NATO officials, all representing NATO nations. Walk the short distance to Town Point Park for NATO Fest, a cultural experience of food, drink and entertainment. The 28 NATO countries will showcase unique cultures in a festival-style format. You can take in the sights and sounds while enjoying lunch on your own from the many international offerings. Visit MacArthur Memorial Museum – A moving tribute to General Douglas MacArthur. Prior to the evening excitement you will enjoy dinner before a fun-filled night at The Virginia International Tattoo beginning with Hullabaloo, featuring performances by a variety of musicians, dancers and drill teams. Then it’s on to the main event—the Tattoo, the largest in the United States.

After breakfast and check-out, spend the morning at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in full bloom. Take a trackless tram to explore 155-acres of rare flowers, mature forests and one of the largest collections of azaleas, camellias, and roses on the East Coast. Depart Norfolk with fond memories of your time in Coastal Virginia. A stop will be made for lunch on the return.
