Our first day we will travel south with an Overnight stay in Rocky Mount, NC. Dinner is Included at an Area Restaurant Day 2 arrive in Savannah, GA. for Dinner At The Pirate's House. Since 1753, The Pirate's House has been welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink and rousing good times. Day 3 Savannah City Tour. This driving tour of Savannah may include some walking, weather and time permitting.  Highlights include points of interest surrounding the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and the filming of "Forrest Gump". You will also view historic buildings; monuments; unique park-like squares, cobblestone and brick street, antebellum mansions, row houses and churches. Lunch on Own and Time to Stroll River Street, a glittering, multi-faceted gem along the broad Savannah River. The century old buildings, once cotton warehouses, have been converted to antique shops, distinctive boutiques, spectacular galleries, quaint brew pubs, fabulous restaurants, unique nightspots, elegant inns and hotels. Visit the Mercer Williams House as a group, designed by New York architect John S. Norris for General Hugh W. Mercer, great grandfather of songwriter Johnny Mercer. You will have some free time to relax or explore on your own. The choice is yours. Dinner at the end of the day will be at a local restaurant. Day 4 After breakfast this morning, head to Tybee Island where a step on guide will meet you for a tour of the island. Following your tour, you will have free time for lunch on your own and shopping at Tybee Oaks. Later in the afternoon return to Savannah where you overnight once again. Dinner is on your own this evening. Day 5 Start your day at the Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. This 500-acre estate was acquired in 1676 by the Drayton family, whose heirs still own and manage it. Included in your tour is House & Nature Tram. Enjoy some free time at the Old City Market for shopping and lunch on your own. Fort Sumter Cruise & Tour. After boarding, you will experience a relaxing 30 minute cruise through Charleston's historic harbor out to Fort Sumter. The tour is fully narrated and explains many points of interest and historic significance. You will learn about the major events which led to the outbreak of America's most bloody war. At Fort Sumter National Park, historians will provide detailed information about Fort Sumter and its pivotal role in the War between the States. There is a museum with fascinating exhibits and a small gift shop for your enjoyment. After one hour at the Fort, you will cruise back to port, enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Charleston's bustling harbor. Enjoy a one hour narrated Carriage ride through the historic area of old Charleston. Experience 25-30 blocks of Charleston’s historic downtown district, see houses, gardens, mansions, churches & parks, learn about buildings, history, architecture, flora & the people that make up the “Holy City” on this unique Carriage Tour. A visa card will be provided for you to explore the dining options in Savannah. Day 6 Depart with Overnight Lodging - Rocky Mount, NC Day 7 After breakfast this morning, your will depart for home with memories of Savannah & Charleston.
